Earthquake Los Angeles

[Earthquake Los Angeles] An earthquake east of downtown Los Angeles waves in Southern California before dawn Tuesday, millions of people snap awake and alert placed first responders. There were reports of damage, injury or blackouts associated with earthquakes.

"All quiet in the city of Los Angeles," Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda said. Almost an hour after the earthquake, the California Highway Patrol received a report from the 10-foot stretch of concrete bent in the middle lane south of Interstate 5 south of downtown in the Downey area.

CHP Officer Daniel Asleson later said the quake may not cause buckling. Damage was reported a day earlier in the lane, which is widely used by big-rig. California Department of Transportation crews temporarily patched the area again Tuesday morning and the line reopened an hour later. Permanent repair work begins on Tuesday night.
